WWW. helps us remember three foundational aspects of creation theology: worship (our purpose), warfare (our problem), and wisdom (our path).
PLAxN helps us remember the covenants in God’s plan for bringing salvation to the world: Promise (Abraham), Law (Moses), Anointed One (David), x for Exile, and New Covenant (Jesus).
.COM reminds us of the coming of the Messiah when God’s kingdom will bring this present evil age to an end and Jesus will reign on the earth.
W – Worship. God’s purpose for creating the human race was to start a family. He wants us to walk with Him in intimacy, growing in our trust and obedience.
W – Warfare. You cannot understand life unless you understand that we live in a world at war against rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms.
W – Wisdom. To guide us through life in this fallen world, God gives us the Scriptures and the Spirit to teach us wisdom.
P – Promise. God’s covenant with Abraham promised blessings to his family (seed, land, relationship) and the blessing of salvation to all nations through Abraham’s chosen seed (Jesus).
L – Law. God’s covenant with Israel can be thought of as a marriage covenant. At Mt. Sinai God and Israel got married. The Law establishes rules meant to protect that relationship. However, Israel violated the rules which eventually led to exile.
A – Anointed One. God’s covenant with David promised that the seed through whom all nations would be blessed would come from the line of David. Thus, Jesus is known as “the son of Abraham” and “the son of David.”
X – Exile. If the Law was a marriage covenant, the exile was a divorce. God divorced His people for engaging in the prostitution of idolatry. The exile created the need for a new covenant to take the place of the Law.
N – New Covenant. Through the finished work of Jesus on the cross, God established a New Covenant that allows all who put their faith in Jesus to enter His family. All who are in Christ are under the New Covenant no matter what nation they are from.
COM stands for Coming of Messiah and represents the coming kingdom when God ends this present time of warfare and restores creation to a state of blessing.
WWW.PLAxN.COM is explained in the book The Deeper Walk Guide to the Bible.
Dr. Marcus Warner has prepared a tremendous discipleship resource that presents the central theme of the Bible as worship, with the understanding that worship is a lifestyle in which we “walk with God” in an intimate heart-level relationship with Him. Using many word pictures and an acrostic as visual/memory tools, Dr. Warner unfolds the core elements of the Bible in a uniquely clear and understandable way.

When it comes to living in the Spirit, there is a balance that must be struck between the study of Scripture and the experience of hearing the Spirit’s voice. You can think of Scripture and Spirit as the two wings of an airplane. Both are needed for the plane to keep its balance. Because the Holy Spirit is the one who inspired the authors of Scripture, the Bible cannot be separated from the idea of walking in the Spirit.
