Boot Camp

Uncommon Habits
Maturity isn’t intelligence, giftedness, or competence; it’s the capacity to endure difficulty without losing relational connection, identity, or stability.
Under stress, most people don’t lose intelligence first; they lose relational connection first. Learn to recognize your defaults before they take over.
Maturity is remaining yourself under pressure. Explore the difference between a false self that shifts for safety and a stable identity that consistently holds under stress.
Most people know how to react. Few know how to recover. Build the personal regulation skills and practices that let you return to joy quickly and reliably.
Rupture is inevitable; repair cannot be optional. Practice validating what someone feels, offering comfort, and repairing relationships instead of letting conflict quietly fester.
Maturity is visible long before it’s verbalized. Integrate all four habits into a leadership presence that stays stable, absorbs pressure, and endures hardship well.

Act like Yourself
Return to Joy
Endure Hardship Well
Most leadership training stays at the level of technique — do this, say that, manage this way. RARE Leadership goes deeper, connecting your own relational maturity with the skills you’ll use to lead your team.
This isn’t information for its own sake. Every week is built for immediate, real-world practice — habits you can bring into your next hard conversation, not just concepts to remember.
The RARE Leadership principles, practices, and community were instrumental in my personal development while supporting my peers, direct reports, and project teams through a stressful season. Four years on, RARE Leadership is still primary for reference, contemplation, and practice in my spheres of influence.
Steve B.
You’ll be practicing alongside a community of leaders from organizations already cultivating a culture of RARE Leadership — including Cru, Navigators, Willow Creek, Camps Farthest Out, and Distant Shores Media.
RARE Leadership Boot Camp requires a completed application for enrollment. This ensures every cohort is filled with pastors and ministry leaders ready to engage fully with the material and with one another.

“The RARE Leader can endure the difficulties that come along with leading because they have practiced 4 uncommon habits — they have better patterns that will appear when the pressure is on.”
