You CAN Rise Above!

…but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31 ESV)

Life comes at us in waves. But honestly, we were not meant to pull ourselves up by our bootstraps again and again. We need the strength that God provides! And we need help from those who are battle-tested and can share from their failures and victories along life’s narrow road.

We can all use help in learning to rise above the hard things in life. We are bringing together some trusted leaders to share their stories and lessons they’ve learned, to help you rise above the challenges you will face this year.

Wouldn’t it be great if 2025 could be a year to Rise Above the difficulties we encounter?

At Deeper Walk, we’re kicking off the new year with a free conference designed to help you face challenges with hope. This conference is going to provide encouragement and focus on 3 elements of growth that all of us need:

  • Marcus Warner (President, Deeper Walk) will address things in our past we need to move beyond and rise above.
  • Marlene Allen (Executive Director, Life Model Works) will share insight on how to rise above adversity.
  • Jim Wilder (Founder and Chief Neurotheologian, Life Model Works) will give us tools to avoid living in enemy mode.

Who is this For?

This conference is designed for anyone who wants to learn how to deal with the past, rise above adversity, and love others well.

Because it is free, this is a great resource you can share with friends and family as well as church leaders and missionaries!

  • Session 2 – “Rise Above Adversity” – Marlene Allen
  • Session 3 – “Rise Above Enemy Mode” – Jim Wilder
  • Session 4 – “Helping Others Rise Above & Find Hope” – Q&A Panel: Marcus Warner, Eric Scalise, Dawn Whitestone

Session 1 – Rise Above Your Past – Marcus Warner

Overview: We all have things in our past we need to move beyond and rise above. The question is, how can we do this? In this session, we’ll explore some of the core Christian modalities and what they have to offer us on the healing journey.

Here’s what you’ll learn:

  • What do you need to get rid of from the past?
  • How can you get rid of it?
  • What do you need to build into your life for greater wholeness?

Session 2 – Rise Above Adversity – Marlene Allen

Overview: Adversity: a misfortune, a troubling situation, or hardship. It shows up in various ways in our lives and can be debilitating even to those considered strong. Who is immune? Instead of being wiped out by life’s challenges, is there a way to rise above them even while the storm still rages? Is it possible to walk through the flames uncharred? The verse in Proverbs 24:10, “If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small,” is precautionary because it hints at a way through it. In this session, Marlene will share scriptures and practical tools that led her to rise above the difficult times, and that can help you too.

You’ll learn:

  • How to build strength before the storm.
  • How to endure well in the storm.
  • How to build your story of redemption after the storm to encourage others.

Session 3 – Rise Above Enemy Mode – Jim Wilder

Overview: We can all identify times when we have been triggered by things that put our brains into what can be referred to as “enemy mode.” In enemy mode, we can be angry and defensive even toward people we normally like. When we are in enemy mode, we can be convinced we are in the right and yet be blind to where we are in the wrong and have destructive opinions, attitudes, and actions toward others. The good news is that we can learn skills and tools to escape enemy mode and rise above these destructive behaviors!

Here’s what you’ll learn:

  • How to notice when your brain’s relational circuits are off.
  • How to “return to joy” from distressing emotions.
  • How to attach to God.
  • How to be secure in your identity as a Christ follower.

Session 4 – Q&A Panel – Helping Others Rise Above and Find Hope – Marcus Warner, Eric Scalise, Dawn Whitestone

Overview: Marcus Warner was joined by Eric Scalise (President and Chief Strategy Officer for Hope For The Heart) and Dawn Whitestone (Director, Deeper Walk School of Ministry) to take the conversation deeper. They will also took questions from the livestream audience. They shared practical tools, resources, and next steps for you to get equipped in helping others rise above their challenges and find hope.
