In this two-part presentation at Deeper Walk International’s 30th Anniversary Conference, Dr. Jim Wilder shares keys to creating ‘hesed’ community. In Part 1 he traces the history of ICBC (now Deeper Walk International) and his involvement through the years. In Part 2 he shares the 3 keys necessary for character transformation how he’s seen these elements in Deeper Walk, making it what it is today.

Creating Hesed Community Part 1

In Part 1, Dr. Wilder takes us on a fun-filled trip down memory lane, sharing of how he came to be involved in ICBC (The International Center for Biblical Counseling) which later became Deeper Walk International.

While telling humorous and insightful stories, Dr. Wilder elucidates principles of how ‘hesed’ communities are formed. [Hesed is the Hebrew word for ‘attachment love’].

Creating Hesed Community Part 2

In Part 2, Dr. Wilder shares the three key ingredients necessary for character transformation: 1) A shared group identity, 2) Increasing ‘hesed’ (attachment love), and 3) decreasing ‘qasheh’ (self-justification).

Filled with insights from scripture and neuroscience, and illustrated in the legacy and ministry of ICBC/Deeper Walk, this presentation is sure to give you greater insight into God’s means of transforming individuals, churches, and families.

Jim Wilder has extensive clinical counseling experience and is the chief neurotheologian of Life Model Works, a nonprofit working at the intersection of brain science and theology. He is also the lead developer of the Life Model, which is building contagiously healthy Christian communities through equipping existing networks with the skills to thrive.

Dr. Jim Wilder (PhD, Clinical Psychology, and MA, Theology, Fuller Theological Seminary) has been training leaders and counselors for over four decades on five continents. He is the author of over twenty books with a strong focus on maturity and relational skills. His coauthored book, Living from the Heart Jesus Gave You has sold over 100,000 copies in eleven languages. Wilder has published numerous articles and developed video and relational leadership training called THRIVE.
