Whole-Brain Living

Life centers on relationships—with God and others. Your brain, the control center for thoughts and interactions, plays a vital role in shaping these connections. Understanding its function can revolutionize your relationships. Modern brain science aligns with biblical wisdom, emphasizing that your brain thrives on relational joy and connection. Rather than rigid “left-brained” or “right-brained” categories, we are designed as “whole-brained” beings. This class guides you in sustaining relationships, interactive prayer, emotional maturity, resilience, and finding joy amidst negative emotions. Insights from “Rare Leadership” by Marcus Warner and Jim Wilder are woven into this course for equipping you with relational skills.

Life is about relationships. You are created to enjoy a deepening relationship with God and life-giving relationships with people. Your brain is the part of you that God designed to be in charge of what you say, think, and do, and how you interact with God and others. Thus, understanding how your brain works can revolutionize your relationships!

Whole-Brain Living!

Modern brain science has recently discovered what the Bible has been saying all along — your brain is designed to run on the fuel of relational joy and connection (Nehemiah 8:10, Romans 14:17). Many people tend to think they are either “left-brained” or “right-brained.” But what if God designed us to function as “whole-brained” people, no matter how logical or artistic we were uniquely created to be? When we understand how our brain works, we can live more fully out of the true identity God has given us, and we can grow in relational skills that enable our relationships to thrive.

Our brains are incredible! They can learn and grow throughout our lifetime. But to learn something new, whether it be a foreign language or relational skills that enable us to love well, requires more than will power and desire – you actually need to train your brain! As we identify the brain-based skills we have and the ones we are missing, we can take practical yet powerful steps to grow in emotional intelligence and godly character, and find ourselves increasingly living from a heart filled with love, joy, and peace (Galatians 5:22).

In this class you’ll learn:

  • How to keep your “Relational Circuits” on when upset, keeping relationships bigger than problems
  • A guide to interactive, two-way prayer (Immanuel Journaling) based on the 5-level processing pathway of the brain
  • How to cultivate emotional maturity in yourself and others
  • To increase your resiliency and ability to endure trials well
  • How to return to joy from negative emotions of anger, fear, shame, & sadness
  • How to create belonging around yourself and for others

This class is largely based on insights from the book, Rare Leadership, by Marcus Warner and Jim Wilder. However, it incorporates insights and practical exercises from a variety of sources designed to equip you to grow in joy, maturity, and relational skills.
