Show Notes

~Hello friends, this episode went through the trenches to get to you. We are so sorry for the technical issues in this episode’s video.~

Ready for some practical hope with spiritual warfare?

This week we dig into Chapter Four of What Every Believer Should Know About Spiritual Warfare by Marcus Warner.

We’re walking step by step through the CCC-C process of removing enemy permission: 1) Confess, 2) Cancel, 3) Command, 4) Commit. We’re doing a deeper dive (using SOUL-L) into what gives ground to the enemy in the first place and what the remedy is to each area.

For instance, if the issue giving permission is sin, then the remedy is repentance of that sin, and we’re going to talk about what repentance is and is not. May this be an episode for you of good news and practical understanding.

The goal of this series is to equip you with a spiritual warfare first aid kit, so you can function with more freedom on your deeper walk with God. Check out the free discussion guide in the links below!

(00:00) Stephanie Warner: Welcome to Season 4, episode 46. Hello, my Father.

(00:26) Marcus Warner: Hello, Daughter. Good to be together.

(00:29) Stephanie Warner: Good to be with you always. This is a really important episode. I’m looking forward to unpacking it. For some it’s going to be brand new, and for some it’s going to be lots of repetition, but I hope in a very good way. So before we jump into it, I just want to say if you are enjoying this series, one month from this episode’s release, we are having a Spiritual warfare… wow, I can’t talk. I’m so sorry – A spiritual warfare conference with Dr. Karl Payne and Dr. Marcus Warner and Pastor Dan Allison. And it is a pay it forward event, which means you can come free. We don’t want money to be an issue for you. And if you want to pay it forward for others, you can also do that. So anything you want to say about this event, Father?

(01:24) Marcus Warner: Yeah, no, I’m battle ready. New Testament tells us to put on the armor and be ready to stand and to resist the devil – that we’re not unaware of his schemes. So this is an opportunity to learn from, I think, a combined, you know, almost a hundred years of experience between the three presenters. So I think it’s a unique opportunity to come in and learn. So..

(01:50) Stephanie Warner: Yeah. And hey, if you are hearing about this after the fact, or won’t be able to attend live, you can catch the recording, no fears. So you are invited. More details in the description. As I hit my mic, I’m just in rare form today. We’re all good. All right. Let’s dig into this.

(02:07) Marcus Warner: Think we have a book on that. Rare form. I know, yeah.

(02:16) Stephanie Warner: Right? Rare form, coming soon. The goal of this series is to equip you with a spiritual warfare first aid kit so you can function with more freedom on your deeper walk with God. And for this series, we also have a free downloadable discussion guide. So if you’re using this with your group for a book study and you want a little structure to that group, we’ve got some help for you. You can also find that in the description.

And today we are digging into chapter four of this book here, written by Marcus Warner, What Every Believer Should Know About Spiritual Warfare. And this chapter is all about the process. So, Father, we are actually going to start with unpacking the CCC-C paradigm. See?

(03:05) Marcus Warner: So there’s the seven seas and there’s the four C’s.

(03:12) Stephanie Warner: I know, I’m all of a sudden wanting to do that child hand clapping, “A sailor went to sea, sea, sea.” Okay, anyway. And this is actually something – the three C’s were developed by Dr. Karl Payne, who will be at the Battle Ready conference we were just talking about. So before we just dive into what is the first C, would you give us a little context for why this tool is going to be important?

(03:36) Marcus Warner: Yeah, so we’ve talked about, you know, the legal foundation on which spiritual warfare rests, and that permission and authority are the two key legal concepts. So the first two C’s are Confess and Cancel, and those have to do with permission. So we confess whatever it was that gave permission, and then we cancel that permission. So we tell people, like in a normal courtroom, you can’t just go tearing up contracts.

So you’re like, well, what gives us the right to tear up this deal we made with the devil, right? And the answer is the blood of Jesus, right? And that is that the blood of Jesus has paid all of the debt and it is finished. And so because of that and because of Jesus’ finished work on the cross, we can go tear up these contracts. We don’t have to abide by them. So that’s the first two C’s: Confess and Cancel. That deals with permission.

The third C is Command and that’s where we get to authority and now, to be honest, like Karl’s whole approach doesn’t start with CCC. It actually starts with a series of declarations. And these declarations are declarations of my identity in Christ, my authority over the kingdom of darkness by virtue of my identity in Christ, and it can include some binding, and of, you know, some statements of authority and…

(05:03) Stephanie Warner: Some ground rules.

(05:03) Marcus Warner: And so on. So he does have some declarations in his approach before he ever gets to the Confess and Cancel. But for the 3-C part, the Command is where we specifically are now on the basis of our authority as a child of God, commanding demons now that no longer have permission to be there, to vacate. This doesn’t mean that they’re in you, or that you are possessed, it just means that they are present in your life, and they are harassing you, and you are making them leave. So, that’s the third C.

(05:32) Stephanie Warner: Well, and you can even use this with property or things like that too. It’s… Yeah.

(05:37) Marcus Warner: Yes. And again, like with property, wicked spirits don’t necessarily live on the property, but they may have access to it, as they kind of come and go. And what you’re doing is you’re cutting off the access and stopping that cycle.

(05:54) Stephanie Warner: Mmhm. And then just to complete the quick snapshot, the fourth C, would you explain where that comes from and what it is?

(06:00) Marcus Warner: Yeah, the fourth C. Honestly, there was a group of people down in Lexington, Kentucky that were using this process and they told me, hey, we’ve added a fourth C. And I said, What is it? And they said, It’s Commit. And that is when they’re all done, we have them commit their lives back under the lordship of Jesus. I’m like, well, that’s genius. Let’s do that. So we added it in and now that’s a standard part of what we teach as well.

(06:25) Stephanie Warner: Mm-hmm. I love it. I love it because it is very wise and also very hopeful. So that was a snapshot of, okay, what is this tool? And then let’s go back through Confession. That word can be loaded, People can put it in one kind of vein, like what do we mean by confession?

(06:53) Marcus Warner: Sure. Basically admitting that something is in fact true. So by confession, that’s what we mean. So I’m agreeing with God that something is actually true. So it could be – it is true that I have been bitter and I have not forgiven this person. It is true that I have believed a lie and I need to renounce that lie. It is true that I have engaged in sin and I have not adequately done it. It could be – it’s true that I have not forgiven myself.

I have not received your forgiveness, but it’s admitting to whatever it was that is giving the enemy permission to a place in my life. And again, the most common things that we have to confess to are found in that SOUL-L acrostic that we use. And that’s sin. Yeah, it’s Sin, Occult, Unforgiveness, Lies we believe, and issues related to our Lineage.

(07:48) Stephanie Warner: Mm-hmm. Yes. And we are going to circle back to that and unpack that more too.

(07:53) Marcus Warner: I will say that the other, you know, flip side of this to some extent is like, there’s also people who have confessed things like a thousand times. And their issue isn’t a lack of confession. Their issue is that they are not receiving the forgiveness of God. And so whether you call that forgiving yourself or whether you call it receiving God’s forgiveness, functionally, it’s the same idea, and that is I need to get past the confession and actually receive the forgiveness. And so that’s just something worth pointing out here. And in that case, what you’re confessing is I confess that I haven’t actually received your forgiveness. So I’m going to choose to do that right now.

(08:42) Stephanie Warner: Mm-hmm. What does it look like if you don’t know; if you’re using an “if prayer”?

(08:47) Marcus Warner: Well, we use “if prayers” for when we don’t know. And that is sometimes we’re not sure if something we’ve done is given permission to the enemy or not. And this can be a counterfeit religious experience, where I’m not sure if it’s counterfeit or not. And so I need to test it. Like, well, when that person laid hands on me, and I had this feeling of electricity in my body, was that the Holy Spirit or was that a wicked spirit? I don’t know. So I’m going to ask God, you know, if I gave permission to something demonic to be here when I had that experience, then I renounce it in Jesus’ name. But if it was you, then thank you for it and help me use it for your glory.

So you could do the same thing. It’s like if I admit that I did that, if I did this something, if that was crossing a line, and it gave permission, then in Jesus’ name I renounce it. So we use “if prayers” and you do that with lineage a lot too. Like if there’s something in my past that I don’t know about, or something in my family’s past I don’t know about, I ask you to cut it off. So “if” is a handy word when it comes to those things.

(09:51) Stephanie Warner: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Well, I mean, even just sometimes like if we’re in hotels or whatever, it’s like, I understand that sin may have happened here, that gave ground, and I don’t know what it is, but it’s kind of in that confession zone of, I’m in agreement that something could have happened here. And I just want to recognize that and we’re going to now go through the rest of the steps to clear the air. Okay. I think that’s good for that. Moving on to canceling, what does it look like to cancel, and what does it not look like to cancel? Like what do we mean by canceling?

(10:31) Marcus Warner: So the key concept here is when I think of canceling, this is where I’m tearing up the contract, I’m tearing up the agreement, I’m ending any claim. I’m thinking, I admit I did it, but now I’m ending it. Right? So that’s the idea. So I admitted it the first time, that’s the first step. Now I’m ending it, I’m canceling it. We’re bringing that to an end.

So classic examples, I’m not only confessing this and I’m repenting of it, I’m turning away from it, you know, here and now. I am choosing to receive your forgiveness for it and, you know, ending it that way. I am not only confessing that I have been bitter towards somebody, I am choosing to forgive, and I am canceling it through that method there. Or I have renounced this lie, but now I am choosing to embrace the truth, and on that basis, I am getting rid of the permission.

So probably the closest biblical idea to this is loosing, and it is the idea that I’m asking God to loose me from any claim that the enemy may have on me. And I’m asking for God to loose me based on the fact that I have repented, and that I have forgiven, and that I have renounced the lies, or whatever it is that I have needed to do. And you can even do there an “if” kind of thing here too.

So I can ask God if I’ve missed something, please cover that as well, or bring it to my attention. If I need to know what it is, bring it to my attention. But otherwise, would you just cover it all in Jesus’ name, and then we pray, we say, would you please cancel the permission? And I’ve had people say, I cancel the permission. I don’t honestly know if it matters. I’m not quite sure what the theology is on that, but I’ve seen people do it both ways.

(12:28) Stephanie Warner: Mm-hmm. And God honors it.

(12:30) Marcus Warner: And God seems to honor it. I think that God has a lot of compassion and understanding for our ignorance and…

(12:37) Stephanie Warner: Yeah. Well, and we’re not talking about, like spells and formulas here. We’re just trying to talk through like principles of understanding. All right, let’s move on to command. So…

(12:54) Marcus Warner: So now that we have, you know, confessed the permission and canceled the permission and we’ve admitted it and, you know, ended it, it’s basically saying, okay, wicked spirits, you have no more permission to be here. So in the name of Jesus, you need to leave. And Karl adds this interesting phrase, right? Karl Payne, he has this interesting phrase, “and take all of your works and effects with you.” And I think he learned that from a missionary as I remember the story.

But the idea there is don’t just go, but everything you’ve been building up in my life, you know, tear it down and take it with you. Which is an interesting idea. Again, I don’t know that you’re going to find that in the Bible, but it’s an interesting idea. It seems to be effective. And so we generally will say that as well. So in the name of the Lord Jesus, I command you to leave and to take your works and effects with you. So again, this doesn’t mean that they are leaving from inside of you. It means that they are leaving your presence and they are not, you know, harassing or oppressing or whatever it is anymore.

Yeah, if it does mean that they’re leaving from inside of you, if it turns out that that is actually a thing that can happen, well, you know, then this should take care of that as well. So either way, the idea is you’re evicting them from your presence, because they don’t have permission to be there anymore. And you’re doing it on the basis of the authority that Jesus has given you.

And I know a lot of people when it comes to this step are like, shouldn’t I just ask Jesus to do this too? Shouldn’t I just say, Jesus, would you please make them leave? And what I usually say is, well, you can try it. Yeah, try doing it that way. But I have found that in general, God gave us authority so that we can use it, and he wants us to learn how to use it.

So it’s a little bit like, you know, teaching us to ride a bike. He’s like, you need to learn how to ride this bike, you need to learn how to do this. So you step up and do it. So I’ve told people like, you can ask Jesus to do it, if you’re not comfortable doing this, but in most cases they’ve had to end up doing it.

(15:08) Stephanie Warner: Well, like if we go back to the police officer analogy, you know, the police officer doesn’t have to go get the sheriff or the governor or the president, you know, or whatever to come do it. They’ve been given the authority to do it, so…

(15:18) Marcus Warner: Right. And once again, defining authority. Authority is the right to represent power. It is not a declaration that I am stronger than the demons I’m evicting. It is a declaration that the kingdom of God I represent is stronger than them, and that Jesus has defeated them. And in the name of the Jesus who has defeated them, as one who is seated with him at the right hand of God, you know, I am commanding them to leave. And so they know that we have this authority. They just want to see if we know.

(15:54) Stephanie Warner: Mmhmm. All right, and then one more pass at Commit when we’re committing ourselves or that area of our life back to the lordship of Jesus Christ.

(16:02) Marcus Warner: Yeah. So, you know, there’s this teaching that Jesus had, where he said that you know, a demon gets cast out of somebody and then it wanders through arid places, and it comes back and it brings seven more wicked than itself, and the last state of that person is worse than the first. I feel like I need a little commentary on that, here along the way, because people get confused about this. So the reason we are committing to lordship is not necessarily just to close the door on that. That’s what some people think we’re doing. It’s just a good idea, right? Let’s commit ourselves to the lordship of Christ.

That passage is first and foremost using the analogy of how spiritual warfare works to explain what’s going to happen to the generation Jesus lives in. And that is, Jesus came and he cast all these wicked spirits out, and he did all this deliverance work, and he’s defeating the enemy left and right. And the enemy leaves, but he’s going to come back and find that the nation of Israel is still in a state of apostasy, is still not embracing their Messiah, is still, you know, opposing God’s plan for them, and they’re going to bring seven worse with them, and their final state’s going to be worse than it was.

And that’s exactly what happened. They ended up being destroyed, you know, 70 AD by the Romans, as Jesus predicted on several occasions would happen. That’s the point of that particular passage.

Now, the analogy he uses that a demon leaves a person and it wanders in arid places does seem to give some evidence that Jesus was in agreement with that kind of first Enoch idea that demons are wicked spirits that have no access to heaven or hell, that kind of roam the earth and that they are looking for a home, and that would be a a person to inhabit.

And so my contention on this is that this is not something Christians actually have to worry about. This is something non-Christians have to worry about. Christian’s home is not uninhabited, right? The Holy Spirit lives in a Christian’s home. So it is the non-Christians who have to worry about this. And that you can go through deliverance, but if you don’t give your life to Christ, and you don’t fill that place with the Holy Spirit, you know, then I think there’s an issue.

Now there are people – because I’ve known a lot of people are so afraid of this, they almost don’t want to get rid of the demon, just in case it opens up the door to seven worse ones coming. I’m like, that’s not the point of this story, that’s not what this is teaching, and that’s not what you have to be afraid of.

Your house is not empty, right? It’s not swept clean and empty. Your house is filled with the Holy Spirit. But what we want to do is just confirm that. And so that’s kind of what this last thing is doing. I am confirming the lordship of Christ, and his right to inhabit and to dwell in all the places that have been vacated by the enemy.

(19:02) Stephanie Warner: Mm-hmm. That’s a good word. For the sake of time, I’m going to have us move on into unpacking the SOUL-L acrostic a little bit more. So if you missed it, we did already introduce this in chapter two. And you can go back and review that material. But a quick introduction again, what is SOUL-L?

(19:27) Marcus Warner: So SOUL-L was originally my attempt to summarize the seven steps in Neil Anderson’s Seven Steps to Freedom in Christ. And as often as I walk people through it, I was frustrated that I kept forgetting what they were. And so SOUL-L was originally to try to help that. So sin, Neil Anderson’s steps of freedom has three different things on sin: pride, rebellion, and habitual sin.

And so I was taking all three of those steps and combining them into one. So it’s like, is there pride that needs to be renounced? Is there rebellion in my life that needs to be renounced? Is there habitual sin that needs to be resolved? Or also just specific sin that God brings to my mind that needs to be resolved. I’ve had somebody suggest that idolatry, you know, be put into this category and, you know, so yeah, I agree. So you can break sin down into a lot of subcategories. It helps me think pride, rebellion, habitual sin, specific sin, and maybe idolatry too, are the ones I’m specifically going after there.

(20:33) Stephanie Warner: So this acrostic is meant to, as kind of a rubric for what things have given permission or could have given permission to demonic influence in my life.

(20:40) Marcus Warner: Yeah. What do I need to confess and cancel, right? So I need to confess any sin I’ve engaged in, and then I need to cancel the permission that that gave by my renunciation of that sin and so on, yeah.

(20:54) Stephanie Warner: Yeah. So so one of the things that I really like about this chapter is that, you know, you don’t just unpack, okay, you know, it’s sin, occult, unforgiveness, lies we believe, and lineage are the categories, but then you go a step deeper and you’re like, okay, what is the remedy for each of these things? If sin was the issue, what is the remedy? Yeah.

(21:15) Marcus Warner: Yeah, the remedy’s repentance, right? So sin is the issue, the remedy’s repentance and, you know, repentance tends to be associated with turner burn and there’s a lot of legalistic baggage connected to the word repentance sometimes. So I really like the quote that says repentance is actually the happiest word in the English language, because it means you get another shot, right? You get a do over, so to speak. It’s like, this isn’t the end, you’re not stuck in it.

Cause we all hear the expression, you made your bed, now lay in it. And repentance is sort of the idea of, well, actually you can get up and move on. You don’t have to stay here. So I think that it’s, yeah, the core idea in the Greek and the Hebrew for repent is to turn and it’s turn around and go a different direction. So I like that. It helps me think about it.

(22:16) Marcus Warner: And I’m saying, and now, so what happens here is emotionally, people are like, I have tried to turn away from this so many times. You know, what’s the point? And the point is that this falls into a category similar to forgiveness, where, you know, Peter is trying to wrap his head around forgiveness. It’s like, how often do I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Seven times? And Jesus is like, No, but I tell you 70 times seven.

And it’s this kind of the same with repentance. It’s like some of us are like, God must be sick of me repenting of the same sin again because I’ve fallen so often. And we are in that same mindset. Like I’ve probably done this seven times already. So God’s probably like, well, that’s your limit. And he I think God’s saying to us, no, it’s seventy times seven. It’s like this, just keep turning away.

And He knows how many times we have to turn away from it, before we actually start making progress. So I think some of us need to stop beating ourselves up over how often that has happened, and understand that the Bible doesn’t give us a limit to it. Because you hear well meaning preachers say things like, true repentance, you’re not ever going back. And I’m like, yeah, no, that’s a nice idea, but that’s not how life actually works.

(23:32) Stephanie Warner: There’s more than one engine driving some of these things. Yeah. Well that’s a nice hopeful word on both counts. That repentance is literally a hopeful word and also you can do it multiple times if needed. And then let’s talk about the remedy for the occult.

(23:52) Marcus Warner: So the remedy for the occult actually is, I use the word RED because there’s like three steps to it, right? And so the three steps are I renounce it, that’s the key idea. Renounce it means I am repenting of it. Renounce and repent are kind of synonyms. Repentance tends to refer to actions, but when we want to talk about repenting from a belief or an attitude, we sometimes use renounce and repent interchangeably. They’re similar because you can repent from actions, attitudes, or beliefs. So in this case…

(24:31) Stephanie Warner: I do tend to see repentance as like, it’s the renouncing, but then it’s the carrying on in the other direction sort of…

(24:38) Marcus Warner: It’s the carrying on, yeah.

(24:41) Stephanie Warner: Versus renouncing, you’re just like, “Stop.”

(24:45) Marcus Warner: That’s true. You are technically correct. That is the difference in those two words. There is actually a turning going on with repenting. What I found is that some people, yeah, I guess some people aren’t ready to repent. And until they get rid of the demon, they’re not going to be ready to repent. In other words, they are in such bondage, they may not believe that they need to get rid of something in their life. They may be afraid to take this step, but they’re like, okay, I will, by faith, renounce this. And it’s a step you get them to take.

And I’ve had a lot of people who weren’t fully repentant in their emotions, shall we say, when they took the step to renounce what they were doing, just to break that legal ground. But after then, the demons were evicted, they found themselves like, definitely wanting to repent and move in a different direction. So that’s one of the reasons why I have often stuck with renunciation on some of these things, because there have been a few cases where a person just emotionally couldn’t get there, to where they were going to actually turn away from something.

(26:04) Stephanie Warner: Baby steps to the elevator.

(26:07) Marcus Warner. Baby steps, yep.

(26:09) Stephanie Warner: Yes. We’re going to actually unpack RED in the episode on the occult, coming soon. So let’s move on to the remedy for unforgiveness. Which will shock people.

(26:18) Marcus Warner: Well, it’s in the word, right? You take off the “un”, and you go through forgiveness. So I had a flashback to those 70’s commercials about the uncola. All right. Before everybody’s time. Okay.

(26:32) Stephanie Warner: Wow. Was not born.

(26:34) Marcus Warner: Seven-up used to market themselves as the uncola.

(26:38) Stephanie Warner: Interesting.

(26:39) Marcus Warner: I’m like all right, that has nothing to do with anything. Unforgiveness. Yes, the antidote is forgiveness. So again, here, a lot of times we’re talking to people, they are not emotionally ready for this step. They do not feel like forgiving somebody. They do not actually have any feelings of forgiveness towards this person. And so what we’re having them do is, choosing to cancel the debt. And so that’s the way in which we forgive. I said, Well, will you choose to cancel a debt? Because it’s like if you’re in a courtroom and you sign the documents.

(27:15) Marcus Warner: And you cancel that debt. It doesn’t matter how you feel while you’re signing the documents. The documents are signed and that transaction has taken place. So demons are very legalistic, very transaction-oriented. So some of the time, what we’re doing with people is, we’re actually just trying to get them to do the transaction, and at that level cancel the legal claim against them. And then we’ll worry about the emotions later. Right? We’ll get back to those later.

But the idea is let’s take care of this transaction. Let’s get rid of the legal claim. And then that’ll allow us to get rid of the demons and it’ll make it much easier then to deal with all of these other things that they need to process and deal with.

(27:58) Stephanie Warner: Yeah, for sure. I’m trying to remember, I feel like we’ve done episodes on forgiveness before. If so, I’ll try to find them and link them in the description. I know for sure the Freedom Course has several sessions on what is forgiveness, what is forgiveness not. and they’re very helpful. So I’ll direct people there if you’re like, Nope, this is stuff I need to unpack more. And then yes, for the sake of time, I’m going to move us on. The remedy for lies, we believe, is…

(28:25) Marcus Warner: Truth.

(28:26) Stephanie Warner: You’re replacing it with truth. Whoa.

(28:29) Marcus Warner: Yeah. Shocking. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. So I will also stop here and say too, that sometimes people don’t yet know what the truth is. They just know that what they are believing is a lie, or they’re taking my word for it. That what they are believing is a lie. Like you run into some people who, maybe they’re anorexic and they feel like, I’m fat, and they’re not fat, but they still believe it to be true.

They don’t yet not believe that, but they’re saying by faith, in a sense, I choose to renounce the lie that I’m fat. Or by faith, I… So once again I come back to the transactional nature of these things. Like I’m trying to get this person to sign the dotted line on it, just regardless of how they feel about it, let’s sign on the dotted line here. Let’s get rid of these things. Then we circle back and then what happens is, after the spirit’s gone that was telling him all this stuff, it doesn’t feel true anymore. And there’s nothing to renounce anymore because it’s like, that doesn’t even feel true anymore. It’s like I see things differently now. So…

(29:38) Stephanie Warner: And sometimes in this process, it all happens together, and you’re in touch with your emotions, and everything’s going. But if it’s not, it’s okay to deal with the legal issues, and yeah.

(29:42) Marcus Warner: Yeah. I mean that’s what I’m getting at. An ideal scenario is, you’re dealing with all of this at a heart level, and there’s real heart transformation taking place. But I’m saying a lot of people are so traumatized and so damaged and so in bondage, that you have to start at a very transactional level just to get the process going.

(30:07) Stephanie Warner: Mm-hmm. Alright, the final L is lineage. The remedy for something going on in our lineage is to…

(30:16) Marcus Warner: Is to renounce, right, is kind of the idea of what is…

(30:18) Stephanie Warner: It’s a cut off. Yeah.

(30:20) Marcus Warner: It’s the cut off, right? I need to cut it off, and again, all of these are ways of loosing myself from it. So the idea here is, if a door was opened in my family line for a demon to enter that family line, it does not mean that people in that family are born possessed, right? It doesn’t mean that people in that family are born even demonized. But what it means is that they are born into a family where demons have permission to be more active in that family line than they ought to be.

And so we are cutting them off, and making them leave, so that they stop having that kind of presence in our family. And I can’t do it for the people before me in my generational line, but I can do it for me and the people moving forward from there. And so that’s what we’re trying to do is, take jurisdiction over everything that we can take jurisdiction over, and cut off their permission to my life and to the lives of the next generations coming after me.

(31:37) Stephanie Warner: Mmhmm. And so for each of these steps, can people just apply the Cs to each SOUL-L, and go from there? Yeah.

(31:44) Marcus Warner: Yep. Again, that’s what SOUL-L is. SOUL-L is specifically, what is it that I’m confessing and canceling? Right? And that’s specifically what the SOUL-L is about. Well, how do I know what to confess and cancel? Well, let’s go through these categories and let’s ask. I’ll say one more word about fear because fear is like a huge, huge issue.

I tend to put fear under lies we believe, because as Dr. Wilder teaches, anxiety is always rooted in imagination. It’s rooted in what we’re believing, [which] is causing our anxiety. And usually when we talk about fear, what we’re talking about is anxiety. And that is, it’s the panic that I feel about the future, or about being out of control or something, or it’s the anxiety I feel because of the shame, and what I fear the consequences will be of my, you know, bad choices and things. So there can be a lot of reasons and causes for it, but generally, I tend to connect anxiety and fear into that “lies we believe” category.

(32:46) Stephanie Warner: MmHmm. Yeah, that’s helpful. Man, so much more we could unpack and more in the next episode. Next episode is chapter five, Demons and Deception. So we’ll be getting more into lies and all of that stuff then. In the meantime, just wanted to say…

(33:07) Marcus Warner: We’re going to dive deeper into deception. You just got to be careful who clips that and where that shows up on the internet. Join us next episode as we dive deeper into deception.

(33:14) Stephanie Warner: I know. There’s a clip going around that has me going, “And the interpretation is inerrant.” I said the exact opposite where I said, “We’re not saying the…” you know, but it clipped it right there and I was like, come on. Anyway, we digress. We are so pleased to be on the trail with you all. Thank you to everybody who is here with us. It is a joy to get to be with you, and to talk on these really deep topics. We really hope they’re helpful to you. And yeah, thanks for being here. All right, Father, final thoughts on this episode.

(33:59) Marcus Warner: Yeah, you know, this turns over a lot of issues for people and, you know, if you are in the middle of a spiritual warfare struggle, you know, our goal is to give you practical steps you can take immediately, you know, to do something about this. And so I find, even if you’re somewhat skeptical or you’re doubtful, you go if God, if this is true, if there is something to this, then I show me what I need to confess, let me cancel it. And then, you know, and if they’re right about this, then I command it to leave. And you can put ifs into things while you’re learning how to do this. It is okay.

So you may also find that there are battles that you need help with. And if you need help beyond that, I encourage you to go to the deeperwalk.com website under the more tab, you’re going to find ways to connect with prayer ministers, and I encourage you to look into that as well.

(34:53) Stephanie Warner: Yep, and that’s linked in the description. So awesome. All right. We’ll see you back next week.
